The history of photojournalism

One of the facts I found interesting about the history of Photojournalism, was the first photo didn’t appear in a mass-circulation newspaper until 1891. It was published in the New York Morning Journal using the halftone process. Until this time photographers were handing their pictures to artist who were creating a drawing of their work and removing items they found unappealing or distracting to the picture. However, because the high-speed rotary process used at that time could not handle the halftone process the photo was printed separately and inserted inside the paper. Not till the year 1910 did The New York Times run a photo on the first page.
